Impressive group of leaders discusses ideas, challenges for the life sciences

The most prominent thought leaders of the life sciences industry gathered last week in Kansas City to discuss the future of drug development in the country.  In attendance, were Dr. Margaret Hamburg (FDA Commissioner), Kathleen Sebelius (Secretary of HHS) and Francis Collins (Director of NIH), in addition to an impressive roster of the leading industry executives.

The town hall meeting featured several panels and presentations aimed at creating a faster, more collaborative effort to expedite drug discovery & development  and get new drugs from university labs to market.

Some observations from the meeting were obvious, others a call to action for more partnership & collaboration throughout the industry.  In the video above, Secretary Sebelius offers her opinion that the US is embarking on a “new frontier of biomedical research”.
